Cop28 host UAE has world's biggest climate-busting oil plans, data indicates
The Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc) has the largest expansion plans for oil and gas production, contradicting efforts to cut fossil fuel use and increase renewable energy.
Adnoc CEO Sultan Al Jaber, who will preside over the upcoming COP28 climate change summit, has been criticized for his position at the head of a company with conflicting interests.
Data from the Global Oil and Gas Exit List shows that most companies in the industry are ignoring warnings from climate scientists and continuing to develop new oil and gas fields. [ more ]
